چکیده

This letter proposes a fast IP address lookup algorithm based on search space reduction. Prefixes are classified into three types according to the nesting relationship and a large forwarding table is partitioned into multiple small trees. As a result, the search space is reduced. The results of analyses and experiments show that the proposed method offers higher lookup and updating speeds along with reduced memory requirements. key words: IP address lookup, search space reduction, partitioning

Fast Ip Address Lookup Engine for Soc Integration

IP packet forwarding is a key operation in internet routers and the limiting factor is the IP address lookup. Since almost a whole router is integrated on a chip it is important to design the functional blocks with SoC integration in mind. Here a hardware architecture for IP address lookup based on the kmultibit trie search algorithm is presented. The designed and simulated architecture is base...

Implementation of a Parallel-search Trie-based Scheme for Fast Ip Lookup

The Internet Protocol (IP) address lookup is required to be resolved fast to keep up with data rate increases. To cope with the increasing number of entries, solutions for IP lookup based on random access memory (RAM), which store prefixes in a trie-based structure, are of interest. In this paper, we propose a flexible and fast trie-based IPlookup algorithm where parallel searching is performed...

A High Performance Parallel IP Lookup Technique Using Distributed Memory Organization and ISCB-Tree Data Structure

The IP Lookup Process is a key bottleneck in routing due to the increase in routing table size, increasing traıc and migration to IPv6 addresses. The IP address lookup involves computation of the Longest Prefix Matching (LPM), which existing solutions such as BSD Radix Tries, scale poorly when traıc in the router increases or when employed for IPv6 address lookups. In this paper, we describe a ...

An efficient IP address lookup algorithm based on a small balanced tree using entry reduction

Due to a tremendous increase in internet traffic, backbone routers must have the capability to forward massive incoming packets at several gigabits per second. IP address lookup is one of the most challenging tasks for high-speed packet forwarding. Some high-end routers have been implemented with hardware parallelism using ternary content addressable memory (TCAM). However, TCAM is much more ex...
